Housing Services

We provide emergency supported, and long term housing for those reintegrating into the community including deportees.

We also provide transitional housing for rangatahi facing homelessness. Our options range from studio apartments to whānau homes with live-in support, accommodating up to nine residents across Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Whangārei.

Our Vision

Ki te whakaruruhau te tangata, Ka mauri tau, Ka taurikura.
When people are sheltered, they can settle, they can thrive.

Te Whāinga

Our Mission

He tohu Rangatira He Pā Tuwatawata
The mark of a chief is a fortified village.
Māku anō tōku kāinga e hanga.
I will build my home.

Te Pā Housing Services support whānau to access healthy, affordable homes. We focus on meeting the needs of vulnerable whānau with complex needs and/or conditions and restrictions that impact on their ability to secure suitable housing for their release on parole, at the end of their sentence, on deportation back to Aotearoa or rangatahi facing homelessness.

We have a range of housing options for long servers and deported whānau ranging from 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, and 5 – 9 bedroom whare across Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Whangarei. These homes are safe, supportive spaces where individuals can re-establish their lives with aroha, manaaki, and whanaungatanga.

Each whare operates as a whānau-based environment, where residents live collectively and share daily responsibilities like preparing kai, maintaining the home, and Supporting each other’s journeys of transformation. The kaupapa of our whare is underpinned by the values of:

  • Manaaki ki te tangata – care and respect for all people
  • Aroha ki te tangata – compassion and love in action
  • Whakawhanaungatanga – Building meaningful, supportive relationships
  • Wairuatanga – acknowledging spiritual wellbeing as essential to overall Health.

In all our whare, residents are supported by a Kaiarahi (Navigator) who walks alongside them, offering support in areas such as:

  • Managing parole conditions and maintaining compliance
  • Re/connecting with whānau, tamariki, hapū and iwi
  • Accessing whānau ora Services and supervised visits with tamariki where needed
  • Engaging in mahi (employment), ako (training/education) or volunteering
  • Building daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, nutrition, self-care)
  • Navigating housing pathways to achieve long-term independence
  • Participating in mātauranga Māori and cultural reconnection programs
  • Addressing addictions, trauma and emotional wellbeing through culturally safe services.

Residents are supported to develop a Whānau Plan – a personalised plan addressing tinana (physical Health), hinengaro (mental wellbeing), wairua (spiritual strength), and whānau (relational and social connections).

Whare with supported accommodation services also have the support from a live-in Kaiāwhina providing an environment that is clean, comfortable and safe, and that reflects the choices and individuality of the people who live there. Kaiāwhina work alongside the Kaiarahi ensuring that the needs of the resident are met.
